Election season is over in Bolivia with Evo Morales very securely still in power for the next presidential term. And with that confidence, he’s already making news. Manfred Reyes Villa, his main opponent in the contest has withdrawn from the public eye to hide from charges of election fraud brought by the Morales team. It seems a bit odd that a candidate winning with a 37% margin over his next opponent would be charging the loser with fraud, but there you have it. Morales has also seized a couple of parcels of land owned by other opponents. On top of all that, Bolivia is made a strong showing at the Copenhagen climate conference last week, siding with other developing nations in demanding assistance in dealing with climate change.
So here is a review of the election process there, hopefully it gives you a context to look at the ongoing developments within Bolivia and between Bolivia and the international community. You can see the complete gallery and license images at my Photoshelter page.
